Procedures for New Referees

The Oahu League welcomes you as a new referee - either as a new referee who has just finished the USSF referee course or as a new referee transferring to Hawaii from one of the other islands, the mainland or the world!

First, to receive assignments and email notices you must "opt-in" to the Oahu League email system. By "opting-in" you give the Oahu League permission to send you email. To "opt-in" to the email system enter your email address in the confirmation box below and follow the instructions that follow. You only have to "opt-in" once. You may remove your email address at any time by "opting-out".

  Second, in order to officiate OL games new referees should follow the procedures listed below

Attend a pre-season referee meeting which is held before each season to receive the latest information on the administration of the season, any new changes for the season and the expectations of referees; Referee Meetings are scheduled in advance and are listed in the OL Referee Calendar
 
 
Review and follow the Seasonal Guidelines for the season you wish to officiate
 
   
 
Inform the Assignor about your experience and your officiating "comfort-zone"; that is, “what age level and position do you feel comfortable officiating”
 
 
Request assignments following the Procedures for Requesting Game Assignments
 
 
Maintain up-to-date email and postal addresses and telephone contact numbers
in order to receive email notifications and payments for officiating
 
  Check the Payment Status, Procedures and Game Fees page and confirm your assignments and review your referee evaluations at the Private Referee Information Page  
 
Attend referee clinics sponsored by the OL or the Hawaii State Referee Committee
to further your development as a referee
