After going through the French academy youth system, Mael moved to Hawaii to play for Hawaii Pacific University. After finishing his college playing career, Mael became the Graduate Assistant, and then assistant coach of the program. Mael has been the Director of Coaching of an Oahu League club since June 2017. He is also currently an Olympic Development Program State Team Head coach since 2018. Mael has been an Oahu League Board member since 2017 and has been serving on the Disciplinary Committee since 2017 and Competition committee since 2018. Mael is now the Secretary of the Board.
